Just Desserts Fine Pastries & Artisan Breads WILL be closed August 14, but will return next week, on August 21.

While we appreciate your enthusiasm, please know that market rules prohibit vendors from selling before 8:00 a.m. Feel free to catch a few extra minutes of sleep on your weekend morning!

4 tomatoes - peeled, seeded and diced

4 cups tomato juice

14 leaves fresh basil

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup butter

salt and pepper to taste

Place tomatoes and juice in a stock pot over medium heat. Simmer for 30 minutes. Puree the tomato mixture along with the basil leaves, and return the puree to the stock pot.

Place the pot over medium heat, and stir in the heavy cream and butter. Season with salt and pepper. Heat, stirring until the butter is melted. Do not boil.

In addition to all the great vendors, the Vicksburg Farmers' Market depends on the help of volunteers each Saturday. If you're willing to sign up for a Saturday shift, please e-mail Volunteers typically sell soft drinks (funds support market advertising), answer customer questions, and assist vendors -- when needed -- to set up booths. As the summer wears on, we'll need more help. Please don't just shop the market. Volunteer to work on a market Saturday if you'd like to see this great summer event continue!
